This page explains what and how to review this Practical Spiking Neural Networks book. It also sets the reviewing standards, platforms, and how your reviews will be acknowledged; note that these details are subject to change.
1What to review?¶
All content in this SNN book is reviewable. You can review for grammatical correctness, technical/scientific correctness, and the programming examples. You can also suggest new topics/chapters for this book.
2How to review?¶
Due to the nature of this SNN book, for the near future, it will simultaneously be in two stages: development and production stages. In the ongoing development stage, the book will be written on GitHub and in the production stage, a complete version of the book will be hosted on the snnbook.net website. The how to review guidelines reflect this dynamic nature of the book.
2.1Reviewing the Development stage¶
Each chapter will be reviewed by at least two reviewers.
The editors of this book are the default reviewers, and apart from the editors, there will be at least one expert reviewer.
All the review activites will happen on GitHub to facilitate easy response, addressal, and smooth development.
The link to any new (non-trivial) GitHub Pull Request will be posted on OpenReview, such that the interested community members there can join the review discussions happening on GitHub.
2.2Reviewing the Production stage¶
Any review comments on the existing technical content hosted on the SNN book website -- if reported on GitHub issues or
#snnbookDiscord channel -- will be discussed openly on OpenReview. The link to OpenReview discussion thread will be communicated on GitHub issues and/or in the
#snnbookDiscord channel.
The author(s) of that particular content and editors of this book will engage in the review discussion (on OpenReview); others are welcome to join too!
Once the discussion concludes (on OpenReview) and if the content has to be amended, the development and further reviews will happen on GitHub, i.e., the cycle repeats.
3Acknowledgement of Reviews:¶
Your reviews during the Development and Production stages will be acknowledged under the Reviewed By section of the related chapters, which will be viewable on this website (authorship will not be shared). The procedure to acknowledge your reviews is as follows:
Your organized review of the chapters on GitHub during Development will be (default) acknowledged in the Reviewed By section with your names visible.
Your (anonymous) reviews on OpenReview during Production will be (default) acknowledged as OpenReview in the Reviewed By section.
In case you wish to make your name known and the reviews are substantial (subject to agreement from the authors of the relevant chapter and the editors), then your name will mentioned in the Reviewed By section.
